ZenMatcha was founded by Naomi Thomas, who grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia where she sipped her first cup of Matcha tea almost 4 years ago.
From that very first taste it was matcha love at first sip!
Naomi graduated with a BSc in Chemistry/Physiology from the University of B.C, and continued her education as a graduate student of Physiology/Anatomy at U.C. Berkeley in California. She has worked in the health care business for over 20 years, and combines a passion for both allopathic and alternative medicine, with a solid common sense approach based in science and research.
Naomi has been working tirelessly to bring Japanese Matcha tea to the mainstream North American market for over 4 years now. She introduced and launched Matcha tea to Whole Foods and Jamba Juice, who are now serving Matcha tea drinks in over 800 juice bars across the country. These efforts have culminated in the launch of her own company, Zen Matcha Tea, which imports authentic Japanese Matcha tea and accessories from the Aichi Prefecture in Kyoto. This ancient city in Japan was the birthplace of Matcha tea over 1000 years ago, and the famous Matcha tea ceremony was practiced in Kyoto's numerous temples and palaces by religious dignitaries, monks, and Samurai.
Kyoto is the world's #1 producer of the highest quality, authentic Matcha tea, and is comparable to no other tea growing region in the world!
In bringing Zen Matcha Tea to life and offering it to consumers, Naomi combines her background in Chemistry and Physiology with a deep love of the mystical. As a result, Zen Matcha is proud to be one of the top educational resources for this incredible tea, while honoring it's ancient and metaphysical qualities. Matcha tea is truly one of the most powerful, health-promoting beverages on the planet and we welcome you to experience it!
