Our ZenMatcha ìdrinkingî grade of matcha is a medium grade of matcha tea that represents excellent value for everyday use. The leaves used to make this grade of matcha, are slightly larger than the ìpremiumî grade and therefore impart a slightly ìfullerî feeling in the mouth when consumed. The leaves are harvested from slightly lower down on the tea plant, however they undergo the same ìshadingî process as the ìpremiumî ZenMatcha, resulting in vibrant green leaves. The leaves are then processed using the same careful method of hand picking, de-stemming, sorting and steaming to preserve freshness. This fine ìdrinkingî matcha is an incredible value for everyday useÖit can be mixed alone with water, or used with milk etc. for lattes or smoothies. For true ìmatcha-headsî that consume large amounts of matcha on a daily basis, this is the very best value.

This ìdrinkingî grade of matcha contains slightly less l-theanine than the ìpremiumî grade, resulting in decreased sweetness. However it contains slightly more catechins, which are the powerful anti-oxidants found in green tea. Catechins are slightly bitter, creating a unique taste profile for this grade of tea. The bitterness due to the catechins is finely balance by the sweet taste of l-theanine, resulting in a refreshing and vibrant flavor!

A note on caffeine content:
All three grades of ZenMatcha contain comparable amounts of ìteaî caffeine, about 70 mg per 1 teaspoon serving of matcha. Thus, they all impart an equivalent, healthy energy boost!
